Science and Research Section (KVV)

The Act on Archives defines the role of the Slovak National Archives also as the leading science and research institute in the field of archival studies in Slovakia. To fulfil tasks arising from this role, an independent organisational unit of the Archives was established as early as February 1990. The concept of this section is aimed at solving questions of basic theoretical archival research. The science and research section is the only scientific institution in archival studies in Slovakia.

Tasks carried out in research are aimed at improving the professional level of the archives in order to provide professional preservation and processing of archival sources related to the history of Slovakia.
