The Acquisition Committee, as the Director of the Archives Advisory Body, has been functioning at the Slovak National Archives since 1993. The role of the committee is to acquire and evaluate textual, graphical, video, audio and other records offered to the state by their owners. Members of the committee assess the documentary value of these materials, advise the Director to certify them as archival documents and estimate their financial value. The activities of the committee have enabled the Archives to acquire the personal papers of various personalities of Slovak culture and politics, collections and unique individual items.
